Luke’s upcoming season
Korev Lager Ambassador Luke Dillon has had a mixed start to the 2018 Surf season.
Luke started off January with a contest in Israel, where he finished in 33rd place. He then took on contests across Tenerife, Martinique, Barbados and Portugal and Spain.
The Caribbean trips to Barbados and Martinique especially took their toll. A connecting flight between islands was cancelled, leaving surfers with a day to get to from Martinique to Barbados.. Luke lost narrowly in both events in early rounds and then went on to compete in Europe.
Throughout April, he finished off in the QS3000 Event in Santa Cruz, Portugal. He surfed well, winning heats and setting up a clash with two of the world’s best surfers – Jadson Andre and Samuel Pupo. Luke didn’t find the better waves in the heat and was eliminated in 33rd place. But, he really enjoyed the contest, getting to compete against a stacked international field and finishing in the top third .
Upon his return home, Luke decided he needed to change some things up, spend a bit of time at home, sort out new boards, compete in a couple of the domestic contests and recharge the batteries.. Luke placed 2nd place in both the English National Championship and the Surfaced Pro UKPSA events.
He has been working closely with his International surfboard shapers on new designs and shapes to suit his powerful style. The new boards are now ready and indications are they are flying.
Luke is training for the upcoming Boardmasters WSL QS contest which starts on August 8th.
Luke is rested, fit and prepared for this important stage of the year. The European Legs of the WSL tour, Summer/Autumn in Europe is very much a special time and place to be a surfer.
